Orienteering with Leon

Bonjour, my name is Viliami and welcome to the blogging Center.

Today we did an activity called orienteering. Orienteering is a kind of like a game to get you motivated and stuff like that. Orienteering is when you find stuff on maps like contour lines, steep hills, slight hills, and especially lines. It was fine until we had to do lots and lots and lots of running here and there there and here. The end was thee best because I was wandering around like I was lost kid in the forest.

Kumusta, Blogging Minions

This week I have been using a range of language features to help make my writing more descriptive. Some language features we have been talking about are similes, metaphors, personification and onomatopoeia.

This is one of my favorite sentences from my writing this week is The taste of sweat slipping and sliding down my face and entering my mouth.

In the morning Hansen class and Henderson class went to the hall while my class was doing maths. Then a girl called Janine came and said we are waiting for you guys so we were shocked so we went to the hall and saw both classes and a girl called Kate.

One thing I found challenging was to copy her dance move except for the moon walk.I did all of the moves right. The hardest bit was Isolating. What is isolating I here you ask? well Isolating is only moving one part of your body.    Thank you for reading feel free to comment.

Teaching the juniors in Bishop class

Ola bloggers and welcome back to week two!

Today my class and I worked alongside Bishop class (Year 2/3) as part of a Tuakana/Teina session.

Tuakana means the elder person, and Teina means little person.

First we discussed how to be effective Tuakana. I learned that I have to not do the work by myself because my Teina won't learn much about it.

The biggest challenge I came across was communicating because I was encouraging my teinas to talk but they didn't. So next time I can let my teina do more work then I am, and to help them talk more.

Next week I am looking forward to more talking and more communicating so my group can finish it by the next five minutes and also be proud of what they did and tell their parents what they can do.

MERC Camp 2017

MERC Camp 2017

Early in the morning I got dressed and ready to go to camp.I had my stuff ready in the front door.I walked to school and saw people with their bag and parents.

When,how,where
Early in the morning it was Wednesday and we got up and went to camp.We went on a double Decker to MERC. We traveled to Long Bay.

One achievement was Digging under the Kayak because we were in a tie with the teachers and we had nine people go through and under the boat.

One thing I found challenging was Archery because my hand got sore from pulling the string back to my chest. Also aiming the arrow to the Bulls eye was hard. I aimed the arrow at the grass.

Giants ladder

When it was my turn my buddy was Filipe. I kept on going and going until I had to wait for Filipe to climb up and I was just couldn't stop looking at the view of the ocean and groups sailing across the sea and far away. Once we were reaching the top of the giants ladder one of the instructors said to do a dance so I just wave my hips side to side. In my group Shreya went up with Amanda and once they reached the top Shreya could not get down so one of the instructors had to go up and Shreya came down.

Thank you MERC and all instructors see you when I'm old.

Kia Toa Performance

Malo leilei and welcome to my blog post.

Today I was learning about resilience from a famous man called Bernard Mangakahia. Bernard and his father in law called Pat Mathers climbed the highest mountain in East Africa. It was almost 6000 meters tall and it was called Kilimanjaro. He was so resilient when he was a kid that he was playing with fire sticks and hit himself on the head but this didn't stop him. His hero was his great grandma called mere.He told us how to do a one handed clap.Travel around the world like Bernard Mangakahia. One way to show resilience is to practice and you'll get better and better. In the 1800's the black ladies were not allowed to sit in the front seat only the back. A lady called Rosa Parks stood up for other people and sat in the front seat and did not move to the back so she inspired the other ladies by sitting in the front seat. So one lady did it and a another lady did it. Bernard taught us a dance that was a Samoan Sasa. We had to slap our self on the knee and thigh. A shocking thing that made me surprised was that Bernard's dad was in the New Zealand... Army for twenty years.

Bernard gave us a challenge. The challenge was about being brave and resilient and just try your best.

Thank you for reading my blog post.Feel free to comment on this blog story.

Starting term two with a push.

Malo lei lei blogging world.

Today I was skateboarding outside on the sunny court. The safety Gear we had to put on were knee pads, wrist Guards, helmets, and also elbow pads.I started of with a cricket push and then I kept on trying and my skateboard went straight forward.

How to pack your gear together

  • Firstly put your helmet down on the floor like a bowl
  • Secondly put your knee pad on the floor like the helmet and leave one knee pad out.
  • Thirdly put your other knee pad and put it over your knee pad like so.
  • Next put you elbow on top of the knee pad but make sure your elbow pad is strapped together.
  • Then wrap your wrist guard strapped together. And put it on top of the elbow pad.
  • Next take the knee pad strap at the bottom and wrap it around the whole gear.
  • Lastly put it in you helmet and clip it and then your done.

Iain Sharp style poem

Hi blogging world.

Welcome to my very first blog post ever today! I am very excited to share my learning with you all.

Today we have been learning about Iain Sharp style poems. I created one about myself using some amazing metaphors. It was easy to write because there were questions that helped me get ideas about metaphors.

Here is a screencastify of my metaphor poem. I hope you enjoy listening.
